An advent of the project was a joint venture of public and private sector and the main motive behind a construction of such endowing bridge was to connect the roads of Kolkata and Howrah. With an extension of around 2700 ft, Vidyasagar Setu is the longest cable bridge of India and the second highest to be built over a perennials of Hooghly.

Victoria Memorial

An onus of Victoria Memorial was a brain child of the then governor general of British India Lord Curzon. It is believed that he had conceived the idea long before an eternal walk of Queen of England but it came into realization after her death. It was in 1906 within a colonial rule of British, a blueprint of Victoria memorial was furnished and was commissioned. An entire work of architecture and design was handed over to world renowned architecture of that time William Emerson along with Vincent J. Esch who completed the construction work in 1921.

The National Library of India

The National Library of India located in Belvedere Estate, Alipore, Kolkata is the India’s biggest library in terms of volume as well as public record. The beautiful estate of Belvedere is believed to be the property of Mir Jafar Ali Khan, who was a Nawab of Murshidabad. Historically, the ownership of the estate has changed frequently from one hand to another. The library is managed and administered by the Department of Culture, Ministry of Tourism & Culture of the Government of India. It is categorized to collect, and preserve the printed scripts produced in India.

Kalighat Kali Temple

Howrah Bridge

Howrah Bridge is a scantling bridge constructed under the supervision of British government in 1943 above an overwhelming arm of Hooghly River. Before an inception of Howrah Bridge, the Pontoon bridge was operating as main road to connect the roads of Howrah and Kolkata. It was back in June 1965 the bridge was renamed after one of the great pioneer, scholar and poet of West Bengal, Rabindranath Tagore. The bridge is one of the two great constructions that changed the history and transport and communication of West Bengal.
